Gender-based violence Therapy NOW

Gender-Based Violence

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is violence that is directed at a person based on HIS or HER biological sex OR gender identity. It includes physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse, threats, coercion, and economic or educational deprivation, whether occurring in public or private life.

Rape and abuse, whether physical or psychological causes unimaginable heartache and pain. It leads to psychological trauma, and can have psychological, behavioural and physical consequences for survivors.

It can also prevent survivors from achieving economic prosperity because of stigma or the trauma that it caused.

GBV often leads to unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortions, and STI transmission, HIV/AIDS as well as isolation and depression.

Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is the most common form of GBV, perpetrated by a current or former intimate partner or spouse, and can occur in heterosexual or same-sex couples.

Families and loved ones of survivors can also experience indirect trauma, and many do not know how to provide effective support.

You are not alone, this can happen to anyone. But it does not need to be a life sentence. Seeking professional and experienced assistance can help you find freedom, love and serenity again.
