https://headroom.co.za/user/christina-nova/ I draw on person-centred and IFS-informed principles, integrating mindfulness and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) techniques where appropriate. I adapt my approach according to the client’s experiences, needs and goals, as well as what emerges during our work. I may invite clients to slow down, notice their thoughts, emotions and bodily responses, and explore patterns in their relationships and inner experiences. Rather than imposing interpretations, I encourage clients to reflect on what feels meaningful and relevant to them. I use mindfulness-based practices to support greater awareness, while EFT-informed techniques can help clients explore emotional experiences and relational patterns. Throughout the process, I collaborate with clients to identify areas they would like to explore, review what is helpful, and adjust our work to support meaningful self-understanding and personal growth.
“ I've learned that every part of us has a reason for showing up, even when its responses no longer serve us. Approaching these parts with curiosity and compassion can foster greater self-understanding, healing and self-acceptance.
“ Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? -Mary Oliver
“ You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out for support. Whatever you’re going through, there is space to slow down, be heard and gently explore what you’re experiencing. You don’t have to navigate it all alone.
“ I believe that people make sense when we understand what lies beneath their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. When we approach ourselves with curiosity and compassion rather than judgement, we create space for greater self-understanding and meaningful change.
“ What might change if, instead of judging the parts of yourself you struggle with, you became curious about what they are trying to protect?

Seeking counselling can feel overwhelming, and I want you to know that you do not have to navigate this process alone. I believe that the foundation of meaningful therapeutic work lies in the quality of the relationship itself, a space grounded in trust, compassion, and psychological safety. Within this space, healing is not something imposed from the outside, but something that unfolds as you reconnect with your own inner resources. Each person carries an innate capacity for healing and growth. This process often involves gently turning inward with curiosity, allowing greater awareness of thoughts, emotions, and internal patterns. Through cultivating self-compassion and a non-judgmental stance toward your experiences, it becomes possible to develop a deeper sense of self-understanding and emotional integration. I am committed to offering a safe, supportive, and collaborative space where you can explore your emotional world at your own pace. My approach is informed by Carl Rogers’ person-centred therapy, with an emphasis on empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence. These core conditions support an environment where you can feel accepted, understood, and empowered to access your own inner wisdom. My work is also informed by an Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed approach, supported by training through the IFSCA (Internal Family Systems Coaching Association). This perspective understands the mind as made up of different internal parts or aspects of self, each with its own role and protective intention. By developing a compassionate relationship with these parts, clients often begin to experience greater internal clarity, emotional regulation, and self-leadership. Each session is uniquely shaped by you, your needs, your pace, and your lived experience. I take an integrative, humanistic approach to counselling, allowing space for present-moment awareness while gently supporting emotional processing and insight. I work with a range of life challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related stress, addiction, career concerns, emotional regulation, and personal development. My focus is on supporting individuals who wish to better understand themselves, strengthen coping strategies, improve emotional resilience, and navigate life transitions with greater clarity and groundedness. In addition to person-centered and IFS informed work, I integrate approaches such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. I also use tools such as the Integrative Enneagram to support self-awareness by exploring underlying patterns of thought, emotion, and behaviour. The foundation of my practice is always a compassionate, collaborative, and client-centered approach, where you remain at the heart of the therapeutic process. ‹‹‹
