https://headroom.co.za/user/gail-gomm/ I believe different issues require different approaches, however I will always work from a Person-centered base, as the client is the most important focus in counselling. The client must feel comfortable enough to express themselves and feel heard at all times. I will always follow the lead of the client, helping them to view situations from different perspectives in order to make necessary changes to life situations. With regards to Couples and Family work, I believe it is important to consider the whole system dynamic, as actions of individuals are always dependent of the 'system' in which they operate.
“ I think many people under-estimate the power of being able to verbalise thoughts and emotions in a safe-space.
“ "I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become"......Carl Jung
“ You don't have to wait for a situation to become critical. Counselling can start at any time.
“ Before every counselling session, I remind myself that for my client, the next hour is possibly the most important hour of their day.
“ Why should mental health be considered any differently to physical health? Let's normalise counselling and its value to the world.

I believe that the luxury of being able to express oneself in a non-judgmental space is almost always overlooked. So often, our personal journey leads us to fulfill our passion. For me, having travelled the journey with a family member with chronic medical conditions (even if they are not visible to the outside world), I have seen first hand how it can affect the entire family dynamic. My aim is to provide psychosocial support to individuals (adolescents and adults), couples and families who are experiencing life challenges, be it relationship struggles, health issues, bereavement, trauma or merely adapting to changing circumstances. I offer a non-judgmental, confidential and empathetic space to listen to your story, helping you to increase your self-awareness of a situation, and hence work towards life solutions. I have a special interest in relationship and family dynamics. I am ASCHP (Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners) registered. ‹‹‹
