What difference is the support you are receiving making for you, and what would you want someone else to know about getting support?

Clinical Psychologist
I offer a warm, conversational space to slow down, speak honestly and make sense of your experiences. Through careful questions, we can explore patterns and work towards the changes you want, at a pace that feels manageable.

https://headroom.co.za/user/gregory-mitchell/ I draw on different approaches according to what we are trying to understand or change. We might explore how earlier experiences shape a pattern in the present, look closely at the thoughts and behaviours that keep it going, or practise a different response between sessions. I discuss these choices with clients and check whether the work feels relevant and useful, adjusting our focus as we learn more. Sometimes it helps to spend time making sense of an experience before trying to change anything; at other times, a practical step is the best place to begin. The aim is to help clients understand themselves more clearly and put that understanding to use in their lives.
“ People often have good reasons for patterns they now want to change. Understanding what those patterns once helped them manage can make change feel less like a battle with themselves.
“ “It seems to me to have value because the curious paradox is that when I accept myself as I am, then I change.” — Carl Rogers, On Becoming a Person
“ You do not need to have everything worked out before asking for support. We can begin with what is happening now and take it from there.
“ I believe people make better sense of their lives when they can look at themselves honestly and with compassion. Both matter: honesty helps us see what needs to change, and compassion makes it possible to stay with the work.
“ What have you become very good at carrying that you may no longer need to carry alone?

This has been my first experience with therapy, and I have found Dr. Mitchell very easy to talk to. He listens attentively and allows me to express myself…
