https://headroom.co.za/user/yogashni-christensen/ I integrate person-centred principles with selected techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), adapting my approach according to the client’s needs, goals and readiness. I begin by understanding the client’s experiences and perspective, and work collaboratively to identify areas they would like to explore or change. Where appropriate, I use CBT-based techniques to help clients recognise connections between thoughts, emotions and behaviours, and develop more helpful ways of responding. I also draw on selected DBT skills, such as emotional regulation, grounding, mindfulness and distress-tolerance strategies, when these are relevant to the client’s goals. I regularly check in with the client about what feels useful and adjust the focus accordingly. This collaborative process supports self-awareness, practical coping skills and meaningful personal progress.
